Achieving the best practice principles
Lexcel is The Law Society’s practice management standard. Written specifically for the profession, Lexcel provides a national benchmark of good practice via independent assessment, whilst at the same time, providing a solution to improving efficiency and customer satisfaction, whilst reducing your exposure to risk.
Lexcel is a standard of excellence, focusing on critical areas such as client care, case management and risk management. Achieving Lexcel will provide external verification to Insurers, Clients and Competitors that you are providing an excellent service. Lexcel V5, the latest version, is mandatory from July 1st 2012.
Lexcel 5 can be applied to any size of firm, from sole practitioners, to top 100 firms. In addition there are a large number of in house legal departments already accredited, including local authorities, corporate departments, and not for profit organisations.
The Lexcel 5 Standard describes the requirements to be complied with, but it leaves firms free to develop their own systems and procedures that are appropriate to their own circumstances. Accreditation against the standard is valid for 3 years, subject to annual maintenance visits.
With more and more firms actively working with the Standard, and clients expecting higher quality service levels that ever before, can you afford to be at a market disadvantage by not having it?
