The Assessment Process
The Investors in People assessment and review process is straightforward and provides organisations with the opportunity to demonstrate how well they manage and develop their people in relation to whichever Investors in People framework they are being assessed against.
The process is primarily based around confidential one-to-one interviews where the assessor meets with a sample of employees that reflects the organisation’s structure. The interviews are informal and non-threatening and are conducted so that people feel comfortable expressing their views on their experiences within the organisation. This is the most valuable part of the assessment process in that it allows the assessor to gain a real insight into the people management and development practices that work well and those that could potentially be improved.
To support the assessment process an assessor will require a list of staff showing their names, job titles and length of service. It is also extremely helpful for the assessor to be supplied with relevant organisational information, such as: the business plan, blank performance management documentation, newsletters, staff surveys and minutes of meetings etc.
Once the assessment interviews have been conducted, the assessor will provide immediate verbal feedback on their findings to be followed by a more detailed written assessment report. If an organisation is being assessed for the first time the assessor’s decision will require endorsement by The Assessment Network’s Recognition Panel. Once the standard has been awarded to an organisation, it will be subject to regular review at a period of no greater than three years.
Investors in People assessors are experienced professionals dedicated to helping organisations get the most out of their Investors in People related assessment in the spirit of continuous improvement.
