Internal Review
One of the real benefits of becoming an Investor in People is what you learn about your organisation during assessment. You can choose to use Internal Review to enhance this experience. In a nutshell, Internal Review adds value by using a team of your own people to do the groundwork for the assessment rather than an external Assessor.
An external Assessor will still interview senior management, make the final decision and give you the big picture, but it is your own team who are trained to stand back and look objectively at how different departments are doing.
All organisations and sectors can benefit from Internal Review, but larger and more complex organisations usually find it easier to create the team of people to gather and analyse evidence, so tend to gain even greater benefits.
Under the guidance of an external "Managing Assessor" your review team will collect evidence either between or during reviews. Using your own people to review performance means that they will be closer to your business and that you will keep focussed on how you work with your people. It is a big commitment, especially in terms of time, but your organisation can reap huge rewards from insights and skills you will retain in house together with the ability to influence developments across the whole of the organisation.
